You might be wondering: why? Why move? Why a Casa Rural? Why Spain?
I have always felt a deep desire to live in a place surrounded by nature — somewhere I could truly recharge, relax and enjoy life. And to share that feeling with others. I love welcoming people and making them feel at home, creating a space where everyone can simply be themselves.
One day something shifted. I felt that my story in Belgium had come to an end. At the time, I was working as a childcare coordinator and running my own coaching practice. Gradually, I felt more and more that I was living a life that no longer truly fit me.
I had my house valued, searched online for B&Bs for sale across Europe, and very quickly my eye fell on La Balsa. The first time I visited, I immediately felt that this was a beautiful place to land, to live and to host. The nature, the mountains, the peace… and the sun! One thing led to another, and within a year I had moved. When I told my daughter Annelinde, she spontaneously said she would also embrace such a change, and little by little the plan became real. I sold my house, ended my contract and closed my practice… In August 2025, we moved together to Andalusia.
Here in Spain, over the past months, we have been building a new chapter. We have renovated, painted, decorated and slowly made La Balsa truly our own. It is special to see how this place, with every change, begins to reflect more of who we are — warm, simple, sincere and open.
There is still so much potential in this house and its surroundings: space for growth, new ideas, new projects and perhaps coaching again, both online and for guests who feel drawn to it. We are still discovering every day what is possible here, and that makes this adventure all the more meaningful.
I am deeply grateful that this choice has become reality — that I can live, build, welcome and dream here together with Annelinde, supported by a warm circle of people who encourage us every step of the way.
